To be perfectly honest he was trying to make it worse. It was humorous to say the least to get this reaction out of the other.
But then the other man managed to compose himself for the most part. And he asked his question.
…
A rather stupid question. He barely even knew what the word meant for the most part.
…
But really.
…What was the harm.
All right.
A simple hand motion was enough to excite him; he smiled wide and his hands clasped together. He felt oddly giddy. It was a new feeling, but he liked it. Now he didn’t quite remember why he had been so nervous before.
…What were they supposed to do now?
He honestly hadn’t planned that far ahead. He had no experience of any kind for this sort of thing… but he wouldn’t panic. The hard part was over, right? Maybe… he could take the other out somewhere. He had probably never seen the surface; both their timelines hadn’t ended that way and both of them ended up in the void.
But there were timelines that he could go to. Somewhere, maybe, where there weren’t any humans that would bother him. Somewhere beautiful. That would be perfect.
“🕈⚐🕆☹👎 ✡⚐🕆📬📬📬 ☹✋😐☜ ❄⚐ ☝⚐ ⚐🕆❄ 💧⚐💣☜🕈☟☜☼☜✍” He held out his hand for his… Valentine to take.
“You expect too much from others.” He’d say tapping a finger on his forehead before just resting his hand on his head. “…A mindset like that. You’ll be used and thrown away. You could stand to be a little selfish you know, for your own sake.”
Sigh.
“…”
“Then again. What do I know.”
–
“<I DON’T… EXPECT IT>.”
His eyes close at the tapping on his face and he turns his head back towards the other. “<…Nevertheless, I will continue to be this way. It’s how I am. Even if I never gain anything from helping people… it’s still worth it, to me.>”
A small huff of laughter, “<Like you said. Sacrifices. They’re necessary.>”
–
“Even if it’s your own?” Mild confusion and curiosity. “Is it really that important to you?”
–
“<Of course. I’m no more important than anyone else, gears keep turning when I’m gone. Now all that matters is… what I do now. How I’ll make people remember me.>”
–
“A pointless practice. Even if you make someone remember you, even for a while, it never lasts. Either they forget, or that person passes and is forgotten themselves. Or you forget their existence in turn. All you can really take comfort in is that the gears are still turning at all.”
He hummed softly, running a thumb over a crack on the others skull.
“…One day. Eventually. You’ll even forget yourself.”
–
He smiles, enjoying the gentle touch on his face, gaze softening as he looks up. “<If that’s the case, I should only try harder, with so little time before nothing matters.>”
–
That actually made him laugh softly in surprise. “You really are strange…” He trails off, red eyes flicking down at the other. He stares at him thought fully for a moment before going on. “…I’ll remember you.”
A huff.
“If only for how strange you are.”
–
“<…And I’ll remember you,>” his hand moves from his chest, threading fingers through the ones caressing him, bringing it down to press his teeth against it, “<If only for how much you mean to me.>”
